MUSICAL THEATRE MELODIES - 25th July - "Doctor Doolittle" introduced by Leslie Bricusse

Rob Morrison's next "Musical Theatre Melodies" broadcast on Tuesday, 25th July at 9 p.m. will feature a 50th Anniversary tribute to Leslie Bricusse's Doctor Doolittle, (based on the stories by Hugh Lofting), from the 1967 original 20th Century Fox film soundtrack recording starring Rex Harrison, Samantha Eggar, Anthony Newley, William Dix and Richard Attenborough.

This will be preceded by a "live" introduction to the musical (via telephone) from the award-winning composer/lyricist and screenwriter - Leslie Bricusse.

The remainder of the programme wil feature additional songs and highlights from the 1998 London stage adaptation of Doctor Doolittle, starring Phillip Schofield, Sarah Jane Hassell, Bryan Smyth, Peter Gallagher and the voice of Julie Andrews.
