Trevor Dagley

Trevor Dagley

We regret to announce that long serving 96.5 Inner FM member and former "Scouting Around" presenter Trevor Dagley passed away on Friday 11 December 2015, aged 87 years.

Trevor was born in 1928 and was educated at Princes Hill State School, Brunswick Technical School and Melbourne Technical College. He began as a Rover Scout with 9th City of Brunswick in 1947 and was a foundation member of the Kingsford-Smith Rover Crew.

Trevor was appointed Scoutmaster of 1st City of Brunswick in 1952 and later that year took the scouts to the Australian Pan Pacific Jamboree in Sydney by boat and returned via Ansett. In 1953 he took them to Flinders Island and Launceston. Trevor has also attended several Australian Jamborees and two World Jamborees. He was an honorary Scout Commissioner.

When 96.5 Inner FM started official transmission in 1990, Trevor was a foundation presenter. Trevor presented "Scouting Around" for many years every Thursday from 6pm to 7pm and it was the longest running weekly scout program in Australia and probably in the world. All Trevor's interviews were "live to air" and covered all aspects and personnel in the movement and occasionally Guides. Scout badges etc were won when people phoned in. Trevor also presented the Multiple Sclerosis Program on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 12pm.

In 1994 Trevor was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for community service, including for the Scouting Association of Australia.

We extend our sincere sympathies to Trevor's family at this very sad time.
