Rob Morrison’s next Musical Theatre Melodies broadcast on Tuesday, 18th June will feature a 70th anniversary tribute to the Richard Adler and Jerry Ross musical The Pajama Game (based on the novel by Richard Bissell) from the 1954 original Broadway cast recording starring John Raitt, Janis Paige and Eddie Foy Jr., with Carol Haney, Reta Shaw, Stanley Prager, Peter Gennaro and Buzz Miller.

This will be preceded by an introduction by New York-based theatre critic, Internet columnist and author* – Peter Filichia (recorded in 2014).

This will be followed by a 1954 archival radio interview with Jerry Ross, featuring song selections from the score performed by John Raitt, Janis Paige and Richard Adler, with Jerry Ross at the piano.

The broadcast will conclude with Richard Adler’s 1958 U.S.-TV musical version of Little Women (based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott) from the original TV cast recording starring Jeanne Carson, Florence Henderson, Bill Hayes, Zina Bethune, Roland Winters and Rïse Stevens.

The broadcast will commence at 9 p.m. EST.
